Over the years he has had many stage names DJ Chi Rock, JM Samoa and DJ Inactive (ask Jason). Hyperactive as he is known to club goers around the world, he likes playing golf, drinking bourbon and DJ'ing. There is a debate on which activity is his best. No matter which activity you share with him you will have an enjoyable time.
Arguably the best golfer in the group. Ron's game is not super flashy, just incredibly consistent. Several guys learned this fact last year as they heard "Putting for par" all day long. If you get a chance to be paired with him, make sure you get a taste or two or three of his "Swamp Juice". Ron may play even better this year as he has a new bionic knee.
John is a very responsible drinker on the course. Over the years he has earned this reputation by overserving himself with vodka-lemonades. He then announces, "I can no longer drive the cart." John has stepped up his bag this year. The new club shine may blind you in the sunlight. The talk is that John is a master gambler at Belterra. In a past trip, he brought the casino to its knees. If you need to go on a heater buy him a vodka-lemonade and he will instruct you on "You have to know when to hold them, when to fold
If Ryan could channel his disdain for Pandas and Manatees (aka Prop Bait") into a passion for golf he'd be on the PGA tour. But for now, he plays with clubs he got in exchange for a case of cheap beer. Ryan is always a good time, watch for him after his 10th beer to turn into the great Houdini. One second he's by your side, you blink and he transported himself to the dance floor. Or a club. Or another town. Bet on a good story the next day, memory permitting.
"The Colorado Kid" as an overzealous caddie once called him has moved from Chicago to West Little Rock Arkansas. Craig is a seasoned veteran of golf adventures, partying, and gambling. If "Courgaring" was a word he'd be well seasoned in that as well. One of the many guys in this group coming back from injury. Craig is looking to sharpen his skills and lower his handicap as he is now a country club member. Will his recent move to a warmer climate result in lower scores? Or will Craig be digging his spurs into his golf cart and into a tree with drinks in both hands. Stay tuned.
Kevin joins The Cup as a longtime friend of Craig and Adam. Kevin is solid. Solid golfer. Solid drinker. Solid guy. Will that solidness translate into profits at the casino? Will he be able to hang with the Kentucky boys near their home turf? Or will his solids turn to liquids as him and Craig disable the plumbing at Belterra? One thing's for certain, you probably won't meet another guy with 6 N's in their last name.
Tom is one of the founding members of the Rains Brothers Stud Service. Once you meet and watch him work a crowd, then any question you may have had will disappear about his "Stud Status." Tom is hard at work rehabbing his back and shoulder so he can beat down the young whipper snappers on the trip. His golf game consists of straight shots, whether with a golf club or out of a bottle of Fireball.
This is Ben's first trip with the men of the Rains family. I'm not sure who is more nervous Ben or his dad Tom about this trip and hearing about trips from the past. As for his golf game, Ben is like most guys in this group. When it's on he hits a big ball and can be dangerous. When his game is off, he hits a big ball and is dangerous for people playing holes around him. You will have fun hanging out with Ben, he is a good guy and a great conversationalist.
Sam is another newcomer to this group but, is definitely an honorary Rains. Not only did he marry into the family, but he also likes to have a good time like the us. He is a new player to the game of golf, as I believe this is his 3rd or 4th year playing. Watch out and don't take him lightly because if his golf game is anything like his music trivia game, we may all be in trouble. Hunt Sam down for a good time. You will likely find him and Ben together wherever beer is being sold.
Jason tends to be a quiet person (compared to an AC/DC concert) but will open up after 3 hours of sleep over the weekend. He is a teacher of men, taught us that casinos hand out donuts in their poker rooms at about 6:00am, that the human body can drink and gamble for over 40 straight hours, and how to toss a ball on the air and hit it with his driver. Jason's game is like him, fun and entertaining. A piece of advice to any of you that might think you can out drink, gamble or stay awake Jason. You can't, don't try.
Scott has been involved with our escapades for over a decade. He is bringing a lot with him to this year's trip, golf game, solid card playing, a sneaky impressive drinking game and his 50th birthday later this summer. If you are in a group with him and notice his shirt pocket is full of straws, those are not for tracking his golf score. Your enjoyment level will increase the more time and beverages you share with Scott.
Well, what can be said that hasn't already been said? Adam is the original top golfer in the family and during those years we strived to get our games to follow his. He was not only known for his golf game, but also his off-course game. Olive launching, swinging from bus luggage rack, charity work (ask him for local charities). Adam is also part of the MASH unit on this trip as he is recovering from hand surgery. PSA - Never sleep on Adam's ability to score when he needs to. Over the years he has shown himself to have the skills to pull out a good round out of nowhere.
Tim aka "super guts" is ready for another great trip and bringing his upbeat fun to the Louisville area. His golf game keeps getting better each of the last few years. You ask what he has been doing to improve, just old-fashioned hard work on the range and putting green. Tim carries a secret weapon - "The Butter Cut Hybrid". He can hit this club from 125 to 200 yards and it butters bread like a pro just landing soft and attacking the pins. The only part of his game that is better than that is working the local hotties.
Jim is one of the Board of Directors of the Rains Brothers Stud Service Cup. He has been working hard on getting things set up for the trip. Don't let his lack of time on the range fool you. A couple of years ago Jim took out a can of whoop ass on the Bandon group. On the course keep an eye out for Jim's creative hats and he will keep an eye out for those pesky "squeezels". No matter the state of his golf game Jim is always ready for a good time.
Steve is also a member of the board and is helping Jim set up a great trip. For several years Steve has been the best golfer in the family. No doubt or question about that fact. Adam and I have a lot of work to do to even get close. His game is in mid-summer shape in early April. I guess an early season golf trip to Florida helps you get ready. Steve will not only go flag chasing on the course, cart girls are also a prime target. Let's just hope the cart girls don't have "Beeels to Pay".
Rob is board member along with Jim & Steve. His golf game is struggling as much as his belt trying to hold up his pants. Rob has also been known to be a cooler in the casino, so have some drinks with him but don't sit at the same table as him.
